2012's Autumn/Winter Hair Trends - Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Here at Salon Secrets we have been scouring the catwalks for the latest hair trends so you don't have to. Usually what is big in catwalk season sets the trend for Autumn/Winter. So with this in mind, what looks will be big for the rest of 2012?

BALLERINA BUNS

If you need a maintainable look for your busy lifestyle, luckily for you the ballerina bun is in. The simple, neat and pretty look was seen throughout the works of Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney and Diane von Furstenberg.

DIP-DYED HAIR

Whereas pastel hair was the big thing in 2011, it seems this year designers are more interested in dip dye with pretty much every colour combination you could imagine featuring on the cat walks. Notable dip dye looks came from Prada, Pringle and Jean Paul Gaultier.

NATURAL

Want to look on trend and still have that extra 15 minutes in bed? Well, it will come as a relief that throughout the Balmain, Burberry and Isabel Marant collections, natural-looking, beautiful hair was in with its no-nonsense appeal..

PLAITS, BRAIDS AND TWISTS

Plaits, braids and twists are everywhere right now and don’t look like they will be a flash in the pan. Marc Jacobs collection saw a heavy focus on buns, Pre-Raphaelite twists were the name of the game at Gucci whilst Fendi and Mark Fast went for a more urban take on the trend by having their plaits trail over the models shoulders.

FRINGES

Heavy fringes are back. At least that is if we trust the fashion sense of the likes of Versace and Antonio Beradi, which of course we do, so expect to see a lot of fringes throughout winter 2012.
